Alfred Glaves, Jr., of McCook, died Saturday, February 11, 2006, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was 88 years old.
Alfred was born on March 28, 1917, in Sheffield, England to Alfred and Selina (Twibelle) Glaves, Sr. At the age of 13 he and his parents came to the United States and settled on the East Coast. They later moved to the Chicago area. Alfred received his high school education through North America Correspondence.
On February 28, 1948, he married Loretta Ann Loomis. They lived for a time near Chicago until moving to Colorado Springs where they were owners and operators of Boulder Street Laundry. Alfred retired in 1969 and Loretta continued to run the business until 1983. They moved to the western slope for some time before moving to North Platte in 1991. In 2001, they moved to their current home in McCook.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Alfred and Selina Glaves and one brother, Ronald Glaves.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Glaves of McCook and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Funeral services were in Libertyville, IL.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the local arrangements; Burnett-Dane Funeral Home of Libertyville, IL was in charge of Illinois arrangements.
