Alfred F. Malleck passed on Friday, September 25, 2009 at Exempla Hospital in Lafayette, Colo. from complications of cancer. He was 80 years old.
On June 2, 1929 Alfred was born on the family farm south of Indianola, NE to Toney and Fay (McCool) Malleck. He attended grade school in the country and graduated from Indianola High School in 1948. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and was discharged in 1953.
He married Peggy Zimmerman in 1952 in Atlanta, NE. To this union two sons were born, Mike in 1953 and Tony in 1960.
They lived in the Indianola area until 1956 when they moved to Washington State where he attended air-craft maintenance school. Upon graduation they moved to Aurora, Colorado where he was employed by United Air Lines for 32 years. Upon retirement they moved to Brighton, Colorado.
Alfred became interested in aviation watching military aircraft training out of the McCook Air Base during World War II. He qualified for a private pilot license at age 16. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a very good shot. He probably got more pheasants than fish.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Lester "Bum"; and infant sister and brother, Beulah and Harold.
Survivors include: his wife Peggy of Brighton, CO; two sons, Mike (Rita) Malleck of Brighton, CO, and Tony (Debbi) Malleck of Centennial, CO; five grandchildren, Rene' Terrazas of Independence, MO and Michael Malleck of Brighton, CO, and Kristi, Bobby and Shelly Malleck of Centennial, CO; four great-grandchildren, Asia, Nina, Maya & Mallecki Terrazas all of Independence, MO; one sister, Fay Marie Uerling of Loveland, CO; many special relatives and friends.
Memorials were to be given in his name for the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 29th, 11 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial took place in the Indianola Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
