Alma Ackerman

Alma Laura (Unger) Ackerman, 96, of McCook, died Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Alma was born on December 20, 1909, in the Ash Creek Community south of Indianola in Red Willow County. She was born the 9th child of Frederick and Emma (Tilgner) Unger. She was baptized at St. John's Ash Creek Lutheran Church and was also confirmed there in 1926. She attended school in Ash Creek and Red Willow.
On September 13, 1928, she married Frederick Ackerman. To this union two daughters were born. They were owners and operators of a motel.
Alma was a member of Ash Creek Lutheran Church, Peace Lutheran Church, and Charter member of Peace Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Frederick and Emma Unger; her husband, Frederick Ackerman on December 21, 1984; her daughter, Lois Johnson on October 17, 2006; son-in-law, Garry Wagner; grandson, David Wagner; granddaughter, Laura Hubert Karp; great-granddaughter, Kayla Hubert; five brothers, Gus, Herman, Walter, Charles and Alfred Unger; five sisters, twins Emma and Elizabeth, Pauline Tauber, Clara Baumbach and Lydia Ackerman.
Survivors include her daughter, Eileen and husband, John Hubert, of McCook; son-in-law, Cecil Johnson of Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Lorraine Groothius of Ogden, Utah; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Unger of Hayes Center and Frances Unger of McCook; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 25, 1:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook with Pastor Bradley Rick officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
