Alvin "Larry" McNutt

Alvin “Larry” McNutt, age 83, of Wauneta, NE passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center in Wauneta.

Larry was born December 20, 1937 in McCook, NE to parents Charles S. and Iva M. (Tirrill) McNutt.  He was one of four children raised north of Hayes Center, NE until the mid 1940’s when the family moved north of McCook.  Larry attended school in Hayes Center before graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1955.

Before enlisting the United States Army, Larry attended college for a year and also worked in the Topeka, KS area.  Larry proudly served his country from 1961 until his honorably discharge in 1963.  He then served in the US Army Reserves until 1967.

In the late 1960’s, Larry moved to Pasadena, CA where he worked as a fireman until moving back to McCook.  Upon his return to McCook, Larry went to work in the maintenance department at Community Hospital.  He was an employee of the hospital for eighteen years before his retirement in 2009.  Larry enjoyed building and flying RC Airplanes as well as refinishing old tractors and cars.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Charles (Iva) McNutt; brother, Orville “Dale” (Evalynn) McNutt; sister, Lorene (Harry) Kordenbrock; niece, Terry Ahlman and nephew, Lennie Hatch.

Those left to celebrate his life include sister, Ardis (Joe) Moreau of Bonney Lake, WA; nephew, Joseph (Cathy) Moreau of Surrey, BC; nieces, Anita (Jim) Lytle of McCook, Lori (Steve) Adkins of Wood River, NE, Cindi (Brad) Martin of Lake Tapps, WA, Jeannie (Ken) Miller of Longmont, CO, Pat (Harold) Yost of Wilsonville, NE, and Ina Harris of Lincoln, NE; special friends, Joe (Alanna) Morosic of  Indianola, NE; and numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.
