Amor Charles Huff

November 30, 1925 — August 9, 2010

Amor Charles Huff died Monday, August 9, 2010, at Nebraska Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Omaha. He was 84 years old.

Amor was born on November 30, 1925, at McCook to Henry Boyd and Ohna Emelia (Wedepohl) Huff. He attended Peace Lutheran parochial school and McCook High School, until November of 1943 when he enlisted in the United States Navy. Amor was honorably discharged in 1946, at the end of World War II, after serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters aboard USS LST 548.

On January 27, 1945, Amor married Minnie Marie Hoschouer at Marysville, Kansas. To this union five children were born. They made their home in McCook, where Amor delivered milk for, and eventually co-owned, Ernst Dairy. He delivered for Roberts Dairy and Huffs Home Delivery after the sale of Ernst. He also worked several years for the Southwest Area Training Schools, after selling the dairy. Being an avid gardener, and enjoying yard work, Amor performed lawn and yard service for several families after his retirement from Southwest Area Training Schools.

Amor was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving as Elder, and volunteering many hours of time care for the grounds, making calls on members, and assisting those in need of care. In his free time, Amor most enjoyed fishing and caring for his beloved chickens.

Preceding him in death were his wife Minnie; his parents; two sisters, Dorothy Carlton and Marilyn Budde; and one brother, Howard Huff.

Survivors include his son, Allen Huff and wife, Jean, of Sutherland; four daughters, Charlene and husband, Gene Wegener, of Bellevue, Talana and husband, Martin Roy, of Overton, Becky and husband, Dan Beirow, of Minden and Nancy and husband, Randy Brant, of Columbus; two brothers, Virgil (Dutch) Huff, and wife Jean, of Pittsburg, PA, and Robert Huff, and wife Jean, of Pensacola, FL; one sister-in-law, Shirley Huff of McCook, and one brother-in-law, Conrad Budde, of Washington state; one former sister-in-law, Verna Barnett of McCook; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
