Luella McConville, age 89, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She was born Aug 8, 1922 to John and Emma Reiners. She graduated from Red Willow High School and taught school in Red Willow County for five years prior to her marriage to Richard McConville on March 4, 1946.
Richard and Luella farmed in Frontier County where they raised their six children. After retirement, they lived in Indianola until 2005, when they moved to Highland Park Retirement Community. They later moved to Willow Ridge Assisted Living. After the death of her husband, Luella resided at Hillcrest Nursing Facility.
She was a member of St. Catherines Catholic Church and Altar Society of Indianola and St. Patricks Catholic Church of McCook.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2009; parents, John and Emma; granddaughter, Summer McConville; sisters, Grace Stritt, Stella Pratt, Sister Alice Reiners and Mae Karp; infant brother, Eugene; brothers, Franklin and Glenn.
Those who cherish her memory and mourn her passing are: her children, Doris Gratopp of Omaha; Karen and husband Roger Gilliand, of McCook; Nancy and husband, Dave Vontz of Omaha; Rick and wife, Crinda McConville of Indianola; Dave and wife, Ondrea McConville of Indianola; and Mark and wife, Kim McConville of Indianola; her grandchildren, Gina (Gratopp) and Eric Maas, Ryan and Traci Gratopp, Emily (Gratopp) and Brian Moore, Stephanie Gilliand, Greg Gilliand, Brett Gilliand and friend, Melissa Beaty, Tobin and Jackie Vontz, Nealy (Vontz) and Tom Meisinger, Brittney Vontz and fiancé Chad Templeman, Layne, Allie, Cassa and Avery McConville, Wyatt and Paul McConville, Brooke (McConville) Nelms and special friend, Jeff Brooks, Brittany and Dylan McConville; 20 great-grandchildren; and her surviving siblings: Nellie McConville, Sister Madelene Reiners and Catherine (Glenn) Reiners; numerous brother and sister-in-laws; nieces, nephews and friends.
Luella enjoyed her family, shopping, raising flowers, doing crafts and playing cards. Her family will remember her as a meticulous homemaker, an excellent cook and wonderful mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 7:00 p.m.
Rosary will be Sunday, February 26, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday February 27, 2012, 10;00 a.m. at St. Catherines Catholic Church with Father Thomas McGuire officiating. Interment will be in St. Catherines Cemetery in Indianola.
Memorials may be given in her name.
