Anthony M. Bishop

Anthony Michael Bishop, age 52, of Hamlet, NE lost his battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the University of Nebraska Med Center in Omaha, NE.

Mike was born December 26, 1966 in McCook, NE to parents Allan M and Patricia Rae (Korell) Bishop.  He was one of three sons born to this union.

Over the years, Mike loved working on and being on the farm.  He also liked working with cattle. He enjoyed figuring out how to build things such as protection over a squeeze chute while working cattle in inclement weather.  Mike also worked for many years driving a semi over the road, as well as working in different phases of construction and operating heavy equipment.

Mike could often be found tinkering in his garage. He enjoyed restoring old farm equipment and collecting antiques.  He found fulfillment in working with his hands and took great pride in his work.  Mike loved to cook and was very good at it.  Mike was a very giving person.  He was very kind and considerate to everyone he met. Spending time with friends, playing cribbage, dice games or just hanging out were some of Mike’s favorite pastimes.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Allan Bishop; and his grandparents, A.M. (Maxine) Bishop and Ray (Hazel) Korell.

Those left to celebrate his life include his son, Austin Bishop of Westminster, CO; mother, Pat Bishop of McCook; two brothers, Mark (Brenda) Bishop of Rudy, AR and Christopher (Samantha) Bishop of Peyton, CO; and his nieces and nephews, Kayla (Jim) Hurley and their son Ben of Tulsa, OK, Alek Bishop of Stillwater, OK and Hayleigh Bishop of Peyton, CO; his companion, Judy Coil of Hamlet, her family and many close friends.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2PM (CT) on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta, NE with Robert Keating officiating.

A Celebration of Mike’s Life will follow at Just One More, 406 Tate St, in Hayes Center, NE.

Memorial contributions may be directed in Mike’s name for future designation.
