Arthur James "Jimmy" Alegria died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at his home in McCook. He was 55 years old.
Jimmy was born on July 31, 1953 in Sutherland to Arthur Alegria and Tomasa (Gaona) Jarvis. He attended Aurora High School and graduated in 1971. He continued his education at North Platte Vo-Tech School studying Auto Body.
On June 4, 1976, he was united in marriage to Connie Wirth at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook. To this union two sons were born.
He was employed as a service manager for Denny Mogis Chevrolet and later Remus Chevrolet. He also worked for the Rubber Hose Plant, 7-Up Bottling Company and was a switchman for UP Railroad.
He enjoyed all kinds of sports and car racing. He also liked to barbecue, collect coins and spend time with his dogs.
Preceding him in death were his brother, Gilbert Alegria and sister, Mary Ann Alegria.
Survivors include his two sons, Tyson Alegria and wife, Lindsey, of Lincoln and Jordan Alegria of Kearney; his father, Arthur Alegria and wife, Lucy, of North Platte; his mother, Tomasa Jarvis of McCook; two brothers, Sunday Alegria and wife, Phyllis, of Culbertson and Michael Alegria and wife, Terese, of Colorado; four sisters, Eva Monzon and husband, Paul, of Lincoln, Elizabeth Vance of Utah, Gloria and husband, Mike Brannon, of Winchester, VA and Frances and husband, Rodney Maret, of McCook; numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name.
Friends may sign his book at the funeral home during business hours.
Services will be Friday, February 6, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
