Arthur Marks, age 82, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Arthur was born on his family farm, September 28, 1933 in Hitchcock County to Floyd R. and Flora L. (Osborn) Marks.
He entered the US Army on November 10, 1954 and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1956.
He worked for Jim’s Chevrolet Dealership in Trenton for many years and then opened his own mechanic shop, “Art Marks Repair”. Art bought his family’s farm south of Culbertson in the 1960’s where he dedicated his life to raising cattle, farming, and his mechanic shop. He loved building his own equipment and could fix anything.
Arthur enjoyed hunting and watching rodeos, local and the National Finals Rodeo. Art especially enjoyed spending time with his family. When he was younger he had a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
He was a member of the Culbertson American Legion Post #133.
Survivors include his brothers, Russell Marks and wife, Lavena of Trenton, Willard Marks and wife, Janette of McCook; sisters, Doris Daugherty and husband, Don of Trenton, Dixie Stock of Trenton; sister-in-law, Alice Marks of Culbertson; 14 nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale and Alton; nephew, Russell Daugherty; brother-in-law, Arthur Stock.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home; the family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Grove Cemetery in Culbertson with Johnny Walker officiating with burial to follow.
