Audrey Ann Gathercole, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at Community Hospital in McCook. She was 85 years old.
Audrey was born on May 29, 1925, at Echo, Utah to Vernie Houston and Evelyn Viola (Stagg) Williams. She graduated from Rocks Spring, Wyoming High School.
At an early age, she worked with her father for Union Pacific Railroad unloading boxcars during World War II. She was united in marriage to David Wales Gathercole. To this union one daughter was born. Before her retirement, Audrey worked in a knitting shop.
Audrey was a member of Eastern Star. She was an avid reader of Country Western books, loved being with her family and friends, and spending time with her beloved Pomeranian, Sophia.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Vernie and Evelyn Williams; husband, David Gathercole; and grandson, Wendell Wayne Warner, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Evelyn Warner of McCook; daughter of the heart, C.J. Tiffany of McCook; step-daughter, Davilene Miller; step-sons, Jon Gathercole and Mike Gathercole and wife, Martha; brother, M.D. Jack Williams and wife, Edie; two granddaughters, Venus Warner and Jan Felker; grandson, Huston Warner and wife, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Brian, Wade, Randy, and Brady Warner and great-great-grandchildren, Maverick and Aiden Warner; and a host of family and friends.
Memorials may be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society.
