Augusta Crescentia Miller, 90, died Wednesday, September 08, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Augusta was born on March 4, 1914 at St. Ann in Frontier County to Francis Xavier and Crescentia Grace (Mumm) Andrijeski. She was baptized on April 19, 1914. She was raised to womanhood on a farm south of St. Ann.
On May 18, 1932 she married Carl Frank Miller of Culbertson, at St. Ann's Catholic Church. To this union eight children were born. Augusta and Carl began their married life on a farm north of Culbertson and later moved to a farm in Frontier County near St. Ann. In June, 1984 they retired and made their home in McCook
Augusta loved to plant and raise a large garden; she loved her flock of chickens and especially enjoyed her rose garden with many varieties and colors of rose bushes. In her later years she learned to crochet and made many beautiful articles for family and friends. They celebrated 72 years of married life.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar Societies at both St. Ann's and St. Patrick's and Legion of Mary. Augusta was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society for over 50 years.
Augusta was a loving, kind and generous wife, mother and grandmother. Augusta had great love and pride for her family. She taught them to love and respect their country, their family, neighbors, friends and God. She lived a life devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Rosary. She will be remembered for her prayerful life and willingness to pray for all people in need.
Preceding her in death were her parents; seven brothers, John, Herman, Frank, Peter, George, Tony and Edward; two sisters, Matilda Andrijeski and Mary Pick; two grandsons, Lee Anthony Miller and Christopher Weskamp.
Survivors include: her husband Carl of McCook; eight children, Richard Miller and wife Retha of Cody, WY, Laverne Miller and wife Bernadette of Whitelake, SD, Kenneth Miller and wife Jeanie of Longmont, CO, Charlene Weskamp and husband Andy of Norton, KS, Carla Teel and husband Dewey of Neligh, Leo Miller and wife Diane of Lincoln, Melvin Miller and wife Jerry of McCook and Carol Lashley and husband Randy of Trenton; 31 granchildren and 70 great-grandchildren.
Rosary took place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Friday at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Patrick' Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family had requested memorials to St. Ann's Catholic Church or the Elizabeth House in Kearney.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
