Barbara J. Nelson

Barbara Jo Nelson, age 64, of McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Barb was born July 15, 1957 in Greeley, CO to parents George C. and Marietta “Jean” (Miner) Hoelscher, Jr.  She was one of five children who graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1975.

On September 27, 1980, Barb married Mark Nelson in McCook.  The couple was blessed with one daughter, Jennifer.  Barb was an avid sports fan and especially loved Nebraska Cornhusker Football.  She was employed by Parker Hannifin for nearly forty years, retiring in 2018.

Barb was preceded in death by her father.

Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Mark Nelson of McCook; daughter, Jennifer (Kelly) Barrett of Trenton, NE; mother, Jean Hoelscher of McCook; brothers, George Hoelscher and Jeff Hoelscher; twin sister, Bev Smith of Tucson, NE; and Donna Hoelscher of Indianola, NE; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
