Bernard “Bernie” Neal Hock died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Denver, Colorado. He was 52 years old.
Bernie was born on January 22, 1953, at McCook to Leslie L. and Maxine I. (Campbell) Hock. He graduated from McCook High School in 1971.
On May 22, 1976, he married Carol Colling at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. To this union six children were born. They made their home northeast of Culbertson where Bernie farmed for over 26 years. He was presently driving a semi for Hagan & Sons Trucking of Culbertson, farming, and helping others on week-ends.
Bernie was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. His real enjoyment in life came from spending time with his family and friends.
Proceeding him in death were his parents, Leslie and Maxine Hock; and father-in-law, Francis J. Colling.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Culbertson; son, Neal J. Hock of Culbertson; five daughters, Sarah A. Hock of Culbertson, Sister Mary Bernardine FSGM of Alton, IL, Karen and husband, Luke Bortner of McCook, Amanda K. Hock and Melissa M. Hock both of Culbertson; one grandson, Layten Thomas; four brothers, George Hock and wife, Kathy and Brad Hock and wife, Mary Jo, all of Culbertson, Greg Hock and wife, Dawn, of Alamagardo, NM and Rocky Hock and wife, JoAnn, also of Culbertson; six sisters, Jeannine and husband, Steve Schendt, of Lawrence, Lori and husband, John Sutton, of McCook, Lt. Col. Annata and husband, Maj. Mike Sullivan, of Abilene, TX, Angela and husband, Ron Rehtus, Mary Beth and husband, Bill Mines, and Lisa and husband, Byron Merrill, all of Lincoln; and mother-in-law, Mary Colling of McCook; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Rosary took place Monday, May 16, 2005, 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, May 17, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Paul Colling and Father Gary Brethour officiating and other concelebrating priests. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
