Bess M. Bunnell, 83, of McCook died Thursday (Feb. 19, 2004) at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln.
She was born Sept. 28, 1920, in a box car in Wyoming to Cecil and Bertha (Diemer) Murphy.
She grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and Wyoming.
On Oct. 24, 1942, she married Ray E. Bunnell in Lander, Wyo., and moved to Trenton. They farmed for 32 years east of Trenton. Bess was living in McCook at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry; a daughter, Jeanie Steinke and husband, Kurt Steinke; a brother, Ray; and a daughter-in-law Catherine Bunnell.
Survivors include her children, Kathy and husband Bill Steinke of Culbertson, Carol and husband, Larry Vlasin of McCook, Ray Jr. and wife, Donna of Juniata, Sharon and husband, Vick Larson of Eustis, David and wife, Michelle of McCook, Laurie and husband, Jim Keeler of Lincoln, Don Bunnell of Frankfort, Ky.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, 10 a.m., at the Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Burial took place at the Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Hamlet.
Memorials are being accepted in her name.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
