Bessie Pickel passed peacefully away April 18, 2007 at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas. She was born in March 28, 1910 at Neligh to Samuel and Lena Newbrough. She was 97 years old.
She is survived by two daughters, Evelyn Staudenmaier and husband, George of Harrison, Nebraska, Bonnie Johnson and husband, Jay of Wichita, Kansas; one son, Donald Knotts of Channelview, Texas; six grandchildren and wives, Greg and Kathy Knotts, Bradley and Sandy Knotts, Art Gallington, Cliff and Wendy Gallington, Dave and Trina Gallington, Travis Johnson; eight great-grandchildren, Andy, Emily, Courtney Gallington, Isabella Micheal, Ryan, Alan, and Austin Knotts; great-great-grandchildren, Addison, Caleb, Kara, Logan and Anthony Knotts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lena Newbrough; two husbands, Thomas Knotts and Alva Pickel; one granddaughter-in-law, Carrie Gallington; and all 7 of her brothers and sisters.
Graveside services are planned for May 25th, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at the Sutherland Cemetery, with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
