Beverly Hope Eiler

March 2, 1929 — October 24, 2017

Beverly H. (Van Vleet) Eiler passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Highland Park Retirement Community in McCook, NE.

Beverly Hope was born to Weaver and Alice (Ambler) Van Vleet on the family farm near Danbury, Nebraska on March 2, 1929.  She attended country school and graduated from Decatur County High School in 1947.

Following graduation, Beverly worked at Halls Grocery Store and Al Dryden Motor Company before she married Harry Howard Eiler on March 2, 1949.  March 2nd, which was also Harry’s birthday, became one of the many things they shared throughout their lives.  They were married at her parent’s home near Danbury.  To this union two boys, Lamoine and Mark, were born.  The family made their home in McCook, NE.

Both Beverly and Harry worked at Tri-State Livestock Commission Company. She was a bookkeeper and Harry an auctioneer.  Harry later became a partner in the business.  Beverly worked for a number of years in the sale barn café and then worked several years at Johnson Jewelry.

Beverly was a member of the First Congregational Church, the National Auctioneer Auxiliary, the McCook Does, Eastern Star, and the Ravenswood Road Club.  She enjoyed every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had a great passion for china painting.  Beverly also enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning, and she just plain enjoyed life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Eiler in 2008; and her two sisters, Barbara and Elaine and their husbands.

Beverly is survived by her two sons, Lamoine (Lisa) Eiler of Portland, OR and Mark (Kathleen) Eiler of McCook; six grandchildren, Laci (Jacob) Mueller, Barrett (Rebecca) Eiler, Aaron (Jill) Purvis, Anthony (Whitney) Purvis, Hollie Eiler and Erik Eiler; Eleven great-grandchildren, Maxwell,  Ella, Braxton, Adelyn, Gracelyn, Landen, Dawson, Hazel, Ansley, Owen and Quincy; sister in law, Phyllis Metcalf of Oberlin, KS; as well as very close friends, Marty and Barbara Newcomb and their family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 2 to 8 PM with family present to greet friends from 5:30 to 7 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Church, McCook, with Terry McCorkle officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, also located in McCook.

Memorials may be given in Beverly’s name to Community Home Health and Hospice, 711 East 11th Suite B, McCook, NE 69001.
