Blanch Margaret Brown died on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at El Dorado Manor. She was 99.
Blanch was born on April 26, 1908, at Hallam, Nebraska to Henry and Carrie (Schnieder) Rippen. She attended County School Dist. 141 near Kramer, Nebraska. Her family moved to Culbertson in 1926.
On November 16, 1927, she married Hamer Brown. To this union two children were born. Blanch was a homemaker as well as a salesclerk for DeGroff's Department Store for 30 years.
Blanch was a 65 year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the United Methodist Women, and the Culbertson American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries #133. She sponsored many Girl Scout Trips traveling to 47 states. She was an avid Culbertson Bear fan attending many of their sports events. In her free time she enjoyed crochet, baking and her rose garden.
Preceding her in death were her parents Henry and Carrie Rippen; son-in-law, Paul "Butch" Ross; four brothers, Alfred, Willard, Harlan and infant Irvin Rippen; one sister, Merylin Fassler; sisters-in-law, Caroline Rippen, Genevive Rippen; and brother-in-law Donald "Don" Fassler.
Survivors include her son, Dolyn Brown, Sr. and wife, Barbara, of Culbertson; one daughter, Joylyn Ross of Culbertson; two brothers, Gordon Rippen and wife, Frary, Leland Rippen all of Culbertson; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jackie Rippen and Maxine Poore; and a host of other family and friends.
She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and pleasing others.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral service were Saturday, March 15, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with burial in the Culbertson Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
