Brogan Harry McCorkle

Brogan Harry McCorkle, age 3, of Colby, KS entered the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Community Hospital in McCook, NE.

Brogan was the youngest of five children born to parents David & Kayla McCorkle on October 30, 2017. Even though Brogan’s time here on earth was short, he was deeply loved by family, friends, members of his McCook Christian Church Family, and many doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals who cared for him.

Brogan's love for life and his family were the most important things to him.  His times of greatest joy always included his siblings and family members. He was an ornery little guy who liked to tease his family and make them laugh.  One of his favorite things to do was ride on the lawn mower spinning cookies in the yard.  When it was too cold for the mower rides, you could usually find him watching the Cars movie series, replaying the funny parts with a Slim Jim in hand.

Brogan had a heart transplant on January 22, 2018 at 3 months of age.  Two years after his transplant, Brogan was diagnosed with post transplant cancer.  During his last few months he was lucky enough to receive a wish from The Make-A-Wish Foundation. His wish was for a playset that he could enjoy with his family and friends in his backyard.  It was one of Brogan’s last good memories.

Those left to celebrate Brogan’s life include his parents, David (Kayla) McCorkle of Colby; siblings, Bailey, Brennan, Breckyn and Blakely; paternal grandparents, Terry (Jill) McCorkle of McCook; maternal grandparents, Jim (Connie) Meixner of McCook; great grandparents, Edith McCorkle and Harry (Mary) Lebsack, all of McCook; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family members and family friends.
