C. Dean Botts died Friday, July 20, 2007 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. He was 75 years old.
Dean was born on July 2, 1932 in Merrick County, NE to Corliss E. and Virginia M. (Lingreen) Botts. He graduated from Dunning High School in 1949.
He entered the US Army in 1954 and served during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
On June 17, 1956, he was united in marriage to Elaine W. Walter in Purdum. To this union three children were born. They made their home in Fremont where Dean was a Master Carpenter and built homes. In 1971, they moved to Broken Bow where Dean became owner and operator of Agri-Systems and sold Butler buildings. They relocated to the McCook community in 1977, and Dean worked for MIC Enterprises. He retired in 2003 after being employed in maintenance at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Dean was a member of Purdum United Church of Christ and Broken Bow Elks Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting, and working in his yard.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Corliss and Virginia Botts; wife, Elaine Botts on April 24, 2005; and one sister, Donna Kennedy.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa and husband, Kenneth Turner, Sr., of Quitman, MO; two sons, Mark Botts and John Botts and wife, Colleen, all of McCook; and three grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Funeral services were Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the Purdum United Church of Christ with Pastor Judy Cook officiating. Burial took place in the Purdum Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
