Caroline Rose (Harmon) Krizek

Caroline Rose (Harmon) Krizek of McCook passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at her home in Highland Park Retirement Community. She was 85 years old.

Caroline was born on September 4, 1925, at Oberlin, Kansas, one of 12 children of Charley C. and Katie O. (Pauley) Harmon. She attended country grade school and graduated from Decatur County High School in May of 1944.

She was united in marriage to Francis Krizek on May 20, 1945 at Oberlin. They moved to Colorado where she worked as a licensed cosmetologist and in corporate services for a bank. After she retired in 1987, she returned to the McCook community.

She was an active member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church. She volunteered many hours at the food pantry and helping others in the community. She loved to travel, gardening, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Charley and Katie Harmon; five brothers, Donald, Leo, Virgil, Paul and Otis; six sisters, Opal Ruzicka, Ruth Olmsted, Goldie Jeffery, Edith Bernard, Dova Miller and Ellen Cole; three nieces and one nephew.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Alban's Episcopal Church.

Memorial services will be at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in McCook on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mary Hendricks officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Alban's Columbarium.
