Catherine Anna (Colling) Blume

November 8, 1919 — November 7, 2015

Catherine Anna Colling Blume passed away November 7, 2015 at Community Hospital in McCook, hours short of her 96th birthday.  Catherine was born November 8, 1919 in Red Willow County, Nebraska to Bernard and Helen (Kennedy) Colling.  She graduated rural school in Red Willow County.

On August 11, 1948 she married Anton Blume.  To this union seven children were born.

Catherine was a devout Catholic throughout her life.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, traveling, politics, most importantly spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by husband, Anton; parents; and siblings: Helen Martin, Bernard (Harlan), George, Jerald, Francis, Richard, John and Gene.  Seven brothers in law: Raymond Ritter, Fred Martin, Wilford Blume, Irvin Blume, John Smith, Frank Samson and Norbert Hoban.  Four sisters in law: Rosemary Colling, Ellevera Smith, Evelyn Samson and Dorothy Hoban.

Catherine is survived by her children: Anna (Jerry) Montey, Anton, Barbara (Lee) Miller, Ellen (Roy) Edmundson, Mary, Patricia (Norman) Kirschner, and Cathy (Steve) Bryant.  Eighteen grandchildren and one step granddaughter, 20 great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; brother, Joe (Eileen) Colling; sister, Bernadine Ritter; sisters in law, Alfreda Colling, Dorothy Colling and Mary Colling.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in her name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
