Cecil Harlan Davis

Cecil Harlan Davis, age 86, died Tuesday (July 18, 2006) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.
He was born in Washington, Kansas to Edward and Jessie (Carter) Davis on November 12, 1919.
On September 29, 1942, he entered the US Army. He served during World War II in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe as a switchboard operator. He was honorably discharged on December 20, 1945.
He married Mary JoAnn Leonard at McCook on July 2, 1968. He was a truck driver for Freight Line Trucking with his brother; later he drove for WEW, Speedway, and A.J. Little. He also worked in construction helping to build dams in Enders, Cambridge, and Trenton. In his free time he was a handy man, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved working with Quarter horses.
He was a member of the McCook Eagles and a life member of the VFW. On July 17, 2006 he was baptized, confirmed, anointed of the sick and given last rites by The Very Rev. Gregory Pawloski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Jessie Davis; wife, JoAnn on March 25, 1999; brothers, infant Sid Davis and Everett Davis; two sisters, Nadine Hill and Mildred “Micky” Woofter.
Survivors include his sons, Tim Davis and wife, DeAnn of Palisade and Jerry Davis of Nashville, TN; daughters, Patty Davis of Douglas, WY and Dottie Davis of Cheyenne, WY; step-sons, Richard Lineger and wife, Sherry of Gothenberg, Daniel Linegar and wife, Cheryl of Hemingford and Steven Linegar and wife, Frances of Gothenberg; step-daughters, Sue Beebe and husband Jim of McCook, Connie Chandler of Norton, KS and Linda Craig and husband, Jerry of Festus, MO; 42 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, July 21, 2006, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
