Clara Metzer

Clara Wagner Metzer, 107, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.

She was born to John and Marie Katherine (Eisenach) Wagner on March 23, 1898 in Culbertson. She attended Culbertson Public Schools.

She married Loyd H. Metzer on February 23, 1927. To this union two children were born. They made their home in Culbertson where she was a homemaker and US Post Office clerk for 18 years. After Loyd's retirement they both traveled for a number of years. Loyd preceded her in death on February 3, 1968.

She was baptized as a child and became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson in January of 1913. She received her 75 year pin in October of 1989. She enjoyed sewing, all kinds of needlework, quilts, taking pictures, and traveling.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Loyd; son-in-law, Kenneth Brenning; daughter-in-law, Mary Annette Metzer; five brothers, Geoffrey, William, Solomon, John and Albert; seven sisters, Emalia (Molly) Sarah, Amelia, Esther, and Rose and two in infancy, Mary Katherine and Margaret.

Survivors include her children, Marvin Metzer and Thelma Brenning both from McCook; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Funeral services were at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson, on Saturday, November 12, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Richard Melano officiating. Burial took place in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
