Clyde Bolin
February 15, 1938 — June 23, 2008
Clyde Louis Bolin of McCook, Nebraska died Monday, June 23, 2008 at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 70 years old.
Clyde was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on February 15, 1938, the son of Samuel Arthur and Elma Elsie (Emerson) Bolin. He spent his early childhood in southern Oklahoma. The family moved to Canton, KS where he graduated from High School in 1956. He continued his education at Kansas State University graduating in 1961 with a degree in agriculture. He was a member of Acacia Social Fraternity. He played in the marching band and was Drum Major for the ROTC Band.
On August 21, 1960, Clyde married Nancy Ruth Hurtig at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tescott, KS. One son was born to this union.
Clyde was a Navigator with the Kansas Air National Guard from 1960 to 1968, flying B 57's, and reaching the rank of First Lieutenant. He also worked for his father in the International Harvester business from 1961 to 1966. He worked two years, from 1966 to 1968, for the Kansas Forestry, Fish and Game Commission as a Game Protector in Coffey County. In 1968, Clyde was hired as a Special Agent with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He was stationed in Port Clinton, Ohio until 1972. The family then moved to Narragansett, R.I. where he was a Special Agent Pilot. As a Pilot Clyde obtained his Private, Commercial, and Instrument Licenses, and Float Rating. He also spent time in Labrador surveying Eider Ducks and tracking Whooping Cranes on their migration to and from southern Texas to Canada. Clyde retired as a Special Agent Pilot in 1989.
The family moved to the McCook community in 1989. While in McCook, he worked for the Sheriff's Department of Red Willow County as a Deputy. Clyde enjoyed a 42-year career in Law Enforcement. He loved his family, protecting and serving the public.
His father, Samuel Bolin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his mother, Elma Bolin of Salina, KS; wife, Nancy Bolin of McCook; and son, Mark Bolin and wife, Julie, also of Salina.
Memorials were to be given in his name.
Funeral services were Monday, June 30, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at the Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina, KS with Pastor Greg Guy officiating. Burial took place in the Crown Point Cemetery in Salina.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
