Dale Howell, age 83, passed away on March 18, 2025, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, NE.

Dale Eugene Howell, age 83, passed away on March 18, 2025, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center, in Kearney, NE. Dale was born on July 12, 1941, in Denver, CO to William A. and Venona A. (Peters) Howell.

Dale proudly served his country, enlisting in the Navy on May 31, 1960. He was an electrician for the Navy and earned the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on July 29, 1966. Following his time in the Navy, he was a lifetime member of the VFW in Longmont, CO.

In Dale’s professional life, he owned his own business: Dale’s Electric Motor Repair. He started his business in 1984 and retired in 2017. After retirement, Dale moved to McCook, NE with his daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Bruce Ackerman.

Dale enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle for leisure, poker runs, and benefits. He took many, many trips to Sturgis, South Dakota. In his free time, Dale would fish and play pool. Dale will be remembered for his generosity, shocking sense of humor, and orneriness.

Those left to cherish Dale’s life is his daughter, Shelia (Bruce) Ackerman of McCook, NE; son Jon Leroy Paul Howell of Fort Wayne, IN; five grandchildren, Katy, Samuel, and Isaac Howell, Patrick and Matthew (Harlea) Busto; and one great grandchild, Oliver Anderson.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ronnie, and his sister, Joan.

There will be a funeral service with military honors at 1:00PM, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE, with Chaplin Ned Cooper officiating.
