Dale A. Seeman

Dale Albert Seeman, age 91, lifelong resident of McCook, NE passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at his home at Brookdale in McCook.

Dale was born January 31, 1927 in McCook to parents Ed and Erma Seeman.  He was one of four siblings raised on the family farm twelve miles northeast of McCook.  Dale graduated from the 8th grade at Box Elder School.   He then went on to attend Red Willow High School.  During his sophomore year, at the age of seventeen, Dale volunteered to join the Navy during WW11.

Dale proudly served his country in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres during the war.  He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1946 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class.  Upon returning to the farm outside of McCook, Dale went back to high school, graduating with the Class of 1947.  Dale proudly talked about his time spent in the Navy, reminiscing about being in the Harbor on Victory in Europe Day and celebrating in Times Square.  He also came into port at San Francisco on Victory over Japan Day, celebrating on Market Street.

On April 29, 1954, Dale married the love of his life, Mary Jane Jeffers in McCook.  The couple was blessed with two children, Candy Patricia and Steven Dale.  The family made their home on the farm.

Outside of farming, Dale worked for Modern Appliance for 23 years prior to working for Volz Plumbing for the next 22 years.  He retired in 1992.  Dale was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge 1434 and he enjoyed hunting, farming and watching his favorite television programs.

Dale and Mary moved to Willow Ridge (Brookdale) in 2008.  Dale was still able to oversee the family farm until his passing.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Jane Seeman, in 2013, brothers Hal and sisters, Bernadean and Norma.

Those left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Candy (Kevin) Wittmayer of Aurora, CO; son, Steve Seeman of Stamford, NE and grandson, Matthew Burchard of Denver, CO.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 10 to 11AM, one hour prior to the funeral service, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

A Funeral Service will also be held on Thursday, June 7, beginning at 11AM, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Clark Bates officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.
