Darryl Lee Tucker

Darryl Lee Tucker, of McCook, died Saturday, November 18, 2006. He was 76 years old.

Darryl was born on December 17, 1929, in a sod house northwest of Hayes Center to R. T. and Zella Hortense (Ballard) Tucker. He attended Hayes Center Schools. On June 21, 1951, he entered the US Army and served with the 213th Field Artillery, C Battery in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1959.

On April 11, 1951, he married Frances Louise McNutt at Imperial. To this union four children were born. Darryl worked for the city of McCook, he was a janitor for the McCook schools, and was a pumper in the oil fields for KTK until his retirement.

Darryl's favorite pastime was spent collecting farm antiques and restoring them, especially old John Deere tractors and cars. He spent hours going through magazines collecting pictures and compiling albums of old-time memorabilia having some 25 albums.

He was a member of McCook American Legion and Southwest Nebraska Antique Car Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents, R.T. and Zella Tucker; two sisters, Helen Cotton and Mildred Beck; one brother, Delbert Tucker; one grandson, Trent Davis; and nephew, Kenneth Ray Tucker.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Louise Tucker of McCook; two daughters, Deb and husband, Doug Lau, of Culbertson and Dari and husband, Jim Olson, of McCook; two sons, Raymond Tucker and wife, Pam, of Stillwater, PA and Kevin Tucker and wife, Melissa, of McCook; three sisters, Wilma Witman of Greeley, CO, Thelma and husband, Richard Walter, of McCook and Lena and husband, Harold Mihm, of Palisade; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many relatives and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Tuesday until 8:00 p.m. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 22, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
