David J Allen, age 59, of McCook, NE passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.
David was born July 12, 1959 in McCook to parents Donald Charles and Marian J (Joy) Allen. He was one of four children who grew up in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1977.
In December 1977, David married and to this union two children were born, Zachary and Kristin. David also began his employment with Parker Hannifin in 1977, where he remained a dedicated employee for the last 41 years. He was admired by his coworkers for going above and beyond and for his good nature. He always treated everyone with kindness.
David was a member of the Army National Guard, serving his country from 1979 to 1987. David was a passionate Republican and proud of the country he served.
On October 28, 2000, David married the love of his life Angela (Petersen) Allen in McCook. Angela became a step mom to children Zachary and Kristin, and together, she and David were blessed with daughters Lillian and Lainie.
David loved fishing, guns, riding motorcycles, good music, and keeping everyone updated with his hilarious Facebook posts. He had a deep love for his family and friends, and enjoyed many adventures with his kids that would usually end with him saying “don’t tell your mother”. David was a creative story teller who often told stories that began with “The girls and I”. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, John Allen.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Angela Allen, McCook; son, Zachary Allen, McCook; three daughters, Kristin (Bill) Pump, Imperial, NE and Lillian and Lainie Allen, McCook; sister, Nancy (Jerry) Brown of Cambridge, NE; brother, Dan (Dianne) Allen of Greeley, CO; five grandchildren, Trinity, Lessly, Brendan, Ethan and Nathan; stepmother, Joan Dike and husband Richard, McCook; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members.
Many of David’s coworkers and friends have expressed their appreciation for the positive impact he has had on their lives. His final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ donation.
