David John Evans, 69, died Friday, July 8, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born June 8, 1936 in Stratton to John R. and Clara Maime (Marquissee) Evans. Dave grew up in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He married Dorothy Lucille Smith on February 20, 1961 at Pierre, South Dakota. They have three children, James John, Penny and Shannon.
David was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church.
He worked as a salesman for the Frito-Lay for 35 years. He loved his children and grandchildren and trap shooting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Cleo; and two sisters, Bonnie Bell (an infant) and Myrna Clifford.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy of McCook; son, James John Evans of McCook; two daughters, Penny Staley of Denver, CO and Shannon Woitaszewski and husband, Randy, of McCook; an aunt, Marianne Ogorzolka and husband, Don, of Indianola; six grandchildren, Shelby, Kelsey, Rebecca, Hali, John and Christian; one niece, Sherri and husband, Mark Uerling, of McCook; four nephews, Mark Clifford and wife, Deb, and Scott Clifford of Hayes Center, Bill Clifford and wife, Lesa, of Kearney and Dennis Clifford and wife, Jane, of Lincoln; cousins, Ron and Linda Gerdes of Spring, TX and Rod and Deb Gerdes of Horton, KS.
Memorials may be given to the Shriners Crippled Children’s Fund.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
