Dawson Jeremy Patrick Burns
12/08/2006 – 04/22/2023
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, Dawson departed life on Earth for a better life in Heaven. He was a son, grandson, brother, father, nephew, and friend.
Dawson was born on December 8, 2006, at McCook Community Hospital to his mother, Colette Burns. Calie Jade was thrilled to finally be a big sister! Dawson learned how to ride a bike at just 3 years old with help from his dad, Greg, who loved spending time outside with him. Ever since then, Dawson was on the GO! He spent the first 12 years of his life growing up in McCook, playing with his brothers, cousins, and friends. He loved skateboarding and riding and working on his bikes. He was on the summer swim team coached by Uncle Dan. Fishing and shooting his BB-gun were some of his favorite pastimes with Grandpa Pat and he always loved the Culbertson 4th of July Celebration with Grandma Lisa and Uncle Elliott.
Growing up, Dawson got to spend time with all his aunts and uncles. Uncle Dan and Aunt Julie took him on many camping trips to the lake where they spent hours boating and tubing. He loved to go motorcycle riding with Uncle Dan, Tyson, and Kerrigan, and making Christmas candy with Aunt Julie and all the girls. When he was little, Aunt Amy lived around the corner, and Dawson could often be found over there playing with Lacyn. He spent time at Aunt Angie’s farm loving on all the horses and dogs and having fun with Megan and Haylee. Time at the pool and riding bikes with Uncle Elliott were always a blast in the summer.
When Dawson loved, it was endless and pure. He loved music, drawing and journaling, and he loved spending time with his brothers and friends. Dawson had a special place in his heart for his cat, Nala. One of his favorite characters was “Bubbles”. Dawson was a 5-star act impersonating him and giving his family many laughs. He was proud of his beautiful long hair and the few little whiskers he was able to grow!
Dawson was able to give the gift of life to many people through organ donation.
Dawson was preceded in death by his biological father, Dustin “Dusty” Kircher, along with his Grandpa Victor Monzon and Great-grandparents Marian Croutcher and Tom & Betty Burns.
He is survived by his parents Colette (Burns) and Greg Monzon; siblings Calie, Laken, Rilen, Kastin, TJ, Monique (Brant & boys), and Lily; his daughter Melody Willow Jade Burns and her mother Alyssa; Grandparents Lisa Croutcher, Patrick Burns & Vera Hanson, Mary Ellen Monzon, and Mike & Val Kircher; Aunts and Uncles Dan & Julie Burns, Angie & Mike Karr, Elliott Tapia, Amy & Myles Virgil and best friend Dominic Douglas along with numerous cousins.
