Mr. Delbert John Hughes, age 70, of McCook, NE passed away at his residence outside of McCook on Saturday, May 8, 2021.
Delbert was born August 1, 1950 in Leoti, KS to parents George Edward and Liberty L. (North) Hughes. He was one of seven children. Delbert graduated from Emporia High School in 1978. Following high school, in 1979, Delbert enlisted in the United States Army. He proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in 1989.
Delbert married Rose (Prigmore) Hushes on May 18, 2002 in Hastings, NE. Over the years, Delbert enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a wonderful cook who loved to host fish fries. Delbert was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; and a son in law, Josh Pettit.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Rose Hughes of McCook; son, Timmy Hughes of Arlington, TN; step son Lloyd (Hollie) Spear of Concordia, KS; daughter, Tamatha Petti of Arlington, TN; step daughter, Linda (Daniel) Amaya of College Station, TX; brothers, Gary Smith and Virgil Hughes, both of Topeka, KS; sisters, Barbara ( Johnny) Hooton of Fleming, CO, Bertha Cutshall of Plainwell, MI, Bonnita (Chris) Tatum of Waterloo, IA and Betty Hughes of Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
