Delmar Moorhous

Delmar E. Moorhous, age 87, died Saturday, July 22, 2006 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Delmar was born on January 20, 1919, at Naponee, NE to Charles Fay and Minnie Margaret (Leimbach) Moorhous. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1936.

On September 5, 1941, he entered the US Army. He served during World War II in Northern France and Rhineland as auto mechanic. He was honorably discharged on November 25, 1945.

Delmar lived a short time in Denver, CO where he was a janitor for the Denver Schools. He returned to the McCook community where he was employed at TRW, the East Sale Barn and Producer’s Sale Barn until his retirement.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Culbertson and past-commander and lifetime member of the Culbertson VFW Post # 6219. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charlie and Minnie Moorhous; two infant siblings, two brothers, Melvin Moorhous and Wayne Moorhous and his wife, Mary; two brothers-in-law, George Olson and Harold Swartz; and one sister-in-law, Carol Ann Moorhous.

Survivors include his two sisters, LaVerne Olson of Englewood, CO and Bethene Swartz of Grand Junction, CO; two brothers, Don Moorhous and wife, Thelma, and Keith Moorhous all of Culbertson; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials were to be given in his name.

Funeral service were Wednesday, July 26, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Chapel with Pastor Brad Rick officiating. Burial took place in the Culbertson Cemetery with full military honors.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
