Delores M Gohl

Delores Mae (Skraback) Gohl, age 89, of McCook, NE passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

Delores was born January 5, 1932 in Max, NE to parents Carl and Doretta (Agena) Skraback.  Delores attended country school at District #55 for eight years and graduated from Culbertson High School with the Class of 1949. She worked at Eat a Bit Café in Culbertson while attending classes, working nights and weekends.  After graduation, she worked at Great Drug Store and Moffitt’s Café.

On December 30, 1951, Delores was united in marriage to Harold Arvene Gohl.  To this union four children were born: Teresa, DeLynn, DeWayne and Debra.  The family made their home on a farm near Palisade. While she did love farm life, including taking care of baby calves and small pigs, she did not care for milking cows. After Harold retired, he and Delores moved to Culbertson.

Delores was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, painting mailboxes, embroidery and collecting angel figurines.  Delores worked as a waitress at Cook's Cafe and as a custodian for Culbertson High School for seventeen years.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; daughter, Teresa; and two brothers, Kenneth and Harvey Skraback.

Those left to celebrate her life include her sons, DeLynn Gohl of Elsie, NE and DeWayne (Terri) Gohl of Kearney, NE; daughter, Debra Gohl of Lincoln, NE; five grandchildren, Tim, Lori, Shaina, Megan and Michael; as well as nine great grandchildren, Kierstyn, Nyla, Eli, Cameron, Ryleigh, Charlie, Devin, Sariah and Logan.
