Delores Barger Thompson

Delores Yvonne Barger Thompson, age 76, of McCook, died Tuesday, December 05, 2006, at McCook Community Hospital.

She was born on October 8, 1930, to John Clyde and Helen Melba Jane (Bailey) Mitchell in McCook. She graduated from McCook High School in 1948. She married Roy Charles Barger on June 8, 1949, in Holdrege. To this union were born two sons and two daughters. They lived on a farm northeast of Culbertson during their 36 years of marriage. After the death of Roy, Delores moved to McCook and later married Vincent Donald Thompson on September 18, 1993.

Delores was a member of the McCook Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Culbertson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen; husbands, Roy Barger in 1985, Vincent Thompson in 2004; and sister, Marge Pollard.

She is survived by her four children, Ronald Barger and wife, Connie of Culbertson, Susan Blomstedt and husband, James of Wellfleet, John Barger and wife, Sharon of Lubbock, Texas, and Jeanne Barger of Omaha; ten grandchildren, Christina, Melissa, Randy, Ryan, Ashlynn, Melissa, Charles, Tony, Jason, Chad; and 12 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Katie, Ryan, Hayley, Collin, Zachary, Braxton, Chase, Madison, Ethan, Anna, and Rachel.

Memorials may be given in her name to McCook Heritage Senior Center.

Funeral services were Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Burial took place in the Culbertson Cemetery

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
