Dennis Lee Foley of McCook passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin, Kansas.
Lee was born on May 21, 1940 in Oberlin, Kansas to Helen Marie (Johnson) and Loyd Manford Foley. He grew up on a farm close to Danbury, Nebraska and rode his horse Mike to country school each day. Lee enjoyed driving the Oberlin school bus during his teenage years. He was also active in FFA. He graduated from Oberlin High School in 1958 where he enjoyed sports such as wrestling and track. He and his track team still hold the 1200 yard medley relay record. Following graduation, he moved to Denver, Colorado to work before settling down in McCook, Nebraska where he met his wife Patricia Andrijeski of 49 years. Lee worked for L.J. Messer Company for a few years before giving 26 years of service to Frenchman Cambridge Irrigation District.
He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He loved taking vacations, ice skating, riding motorcycles, and horseback riding with his wife. He could not wait to take his son, David to work with him and give his daughter, Sarah piggy back rides. Lee was a skilled mechanic who loved to work on vehicles. He could do anything from replacing engines to painting. He loved to hunt and fish but more than anything he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved God and the caring staff at Good Sams.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents William and Lula Johnson and Archie and Erma Foley, and older brother, Marlin Lowell Foley.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Katherine Foley of McCook; son David Lowell Foley of Natchitoches, Louisiana; daughter Sarah Marie (Foley) Harris and son-in-law Cary Deane Harris of Travis Air Force Base, California; grandsons, Denver Lake Foley, Xavier Deane Harris, and Isaiah Lee Harris; and granddaughter, Danica Marie Harris.
Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patricks Catholic Church in McCook, NE with Father Gary Brethour, officiating. Private inurnment will be held in the Oberlin, Cemetery.
