Dennis Marine Green passed away Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 67.
Dennis was born on August 13, 1944 at Colby, Kansas to Roy Major and Ethel E. (Lanning) Green. He graduated from Atwood High School with the class of 1964.
On January 8, 1977, he was united in marriage to Roxanne Howland of Atwood. To this union a daughter, Misty, was born. She was the light of his life. He was a proud father and loved her dearly.
Dennis farmed south of Ludell until the early 1990's at which time he retired and moved to McCook. His interests included muscle cars and going to car shows. He presented his grandkids the keys to a restored 1971 Chevy pickup as a Valentine, a few years ago. It was a prized possession, but his grandkids were more valuable to him than any hot rod ever could be. He also had a passion for motorcycles and traveling. Taking a trip to Canada with family and friends, camping as they went, was a memory he treasured.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Ethel Green; brothers, Marold Green and wife Nadine and Denzel Green.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Misty Horinek and companion, Jeff Samson of Atwood; three grandchildren, Mandilyn Horinek, Kurstann Horinek and Peyton Samson of Atwood; brother, Merlin Green and wife, Dixie, of rural Ludell; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences to the family
