Dick LeRoy Baumfalk

Dick LeRoy Baumfalk, age 73, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011 at his home in McCook.

Dick was born August 15, 1937, in Hitchcock County, Nebraska to Robert L. and Dorothy (Walgren) Baumfalk. He graduated from Stratton High School in 1955. On October 14, 1955, he entered the US Army. He was honorably discharged on July 14, 1958, and he continued to serve in the Reserves until October 13, 1961.

On September 8, 1962, he was united in marriage to Mary Jo Wagner. To this union two sons were born. They made their home in McCook where Dick was an independent writer for many insurance companies. He continued his education at McCook Junior College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in 1966.

He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, McCook Eagle's and Elk's Lodge. His free time was spent fishing, hunting, working in his garden, and cooking. He was an avid Husker Fan of all the sports.

He was preceded in death by his son, James Baumfalk.

Survivors include his son, Michael "Mike" Baumfalk of McCook; his parents, Robert and Dorothy Baumfalk of McCook; and brother, Ronald Baumfalk and wife, Nancy, of Aurora, CO; numerous family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 1-8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2011, 10:30 a.m., at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mary Hendricks officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
