Biography

Dillworth A. Johns, 92, died Saturday, December 10, 2005, at McCook Community Hospital.

Dillworth was born on August 18, 1913, to Johnnie J. and Clara L. (Crouse) Rankin in Goodland, Kansas.

On September 24, 1931, she married Francis Lynn Carpenter in Goodland. To this union three children were born. He preceded her in death in 1967. On December 29, 1970, she married Horace J. Johns in Miami, Florida. They made their home in Florida until his death in 1975. Dillworth then moved to McCook.

She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Johnnie and Clara Rankin; her two husbands, Francis Carpenter and Horace Johns; and one brother, Clarence Rankin.

Survivors include her children, Johnnie Carpenter and wife, Carol, of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Larry Carpenter and wife, Barbara, of Boise, Idaho; and daughter, Glennis and husband, Harold Nagel, of Kearney; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Helping Hand Thrift Shop of the Methodist Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday until 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 15, 2005, 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 M.S.T. at the Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, Kansas.

Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
