Dolores A. Leffler, formerly of Hayes Center, died Friday, September 12, 2008 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. She was 81 years old.
Dolores was born on April 27, 1927, in Hayes Center to William Henry and Zella Geraldine (Eastabrook) Strop. She graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1945. She continued her education in California attending cosmetology school.
On October 27, 1947, she was united in marriage to Curtis Leland Leffler in McCook. To this union two daughters were born. They made their home on a farm southwest of Hayes Center until 1985 when they moved into town. Dolores was a homemaker as well as an instrumental part of the farming operation.
She was a member of the Hayes Center Union Congregational United Church of Christ and Rebecca Lodge. She loved to cook, do needlework and crafts. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Zella Strop; her husband, Curtis Leffler on March 28, 2001; and one brother, Charles Strop.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda and husband, Jack Fanning, of Wauneta and Vickie and husband, Tom Gohl, of Culbertson; four grand children, Ki and wife, Darci Fanning, Heidi and husband, Brad Wheeler, Angie and husband, Alex Lynch, and Scott Gohl; six great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Scott Wheeler and Josie, Wyatt, Colt and Tate Fanning.
Memorials were to be given in her name.
Funeral services were Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 11:00 a.m. at the Hayes Center Union Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Burial took place in the Hayes Center Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
