Donald J. Hinz

Donald Julius Hinz, age 87, passed away, Thursday, November 15, 2017 at Hillcrest Nursing Home of McCook.

Don was born September 9, 1931 to Emil H. and Charlotte (Kunkee) Hinz in McCook.  Don attended and graduated from Ash Creek Lutheran School.

On April 2, 1953 Don joined the United States Army.  He served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1955.

Don married Barbara Joan Hollars on May 28, 1961 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of rural McCook.  To this union two children were born.

Don was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Don worked for Kline’s as a machinist for over 35 years. In his free time he enjoyed farming and working on his farm.

Don is survived by his children, Troy and wife Brenda Hinz of Clayton, IN and Tawny and husband Carl Blatz of Albuquergue, NM; three grandchildren Noah, Elijah, and Benjamin; brothers Alvin Hinz and Kenneth Hinz of McCook; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and LaVern Kalthoff , brother Robert Hinz and sister-in-law, Melva Hinz; as well as nephew, Mark Hinz.
