Donald Bruce Mackey, 71, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at his home in McCook.
Donald was born on April 5, 1933, at Bird City, KS to Bruce and Ruth L. (Cotton) Mackey. He graduated from McCook High School in 1952.
On April 23, 1953, he entered to US Army and served in Japan during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 13, 1955. He continued to serve in the Army Reserves for another eight years.
He was employed by the Rubber Hose Plant until the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and McCook Eagles.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Harold Mackey; and one niece, Kimberly Schaffer.
Survivors include his brother, Michael Foley and wife, Marie, of McCook; sisters, Velda Nadine Guirrere of Costa Mesa, CA, Katherine and husband, Kenneth Peters, of Simi Valley, CA and Karen and husband, Ron Schaffer, of Mack, CO; Special companion, Lorine Bauguess; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials were to be given in his name.
Graveside services took place Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
