Donald L. Miller

Donald L. Miller passed away at his home in Culbertson on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. He was 76 years old.

Don was born on October 6, 1935 in Culbertson to John William and Martha (Wagner) Miller. He graduated from Culbertson High School in 1953.

On July 20, 1958, he married Gwendolyn Mary Kelly at Culbertson. To this union three daughters were born, Julie, Marsha and Melody. Don farmed north of Culbertson and raised cattle and hogs. He later became owner and operator of Miller Sales, an irrigation company.

Don was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of which he served in many capacities. He also served on several community boards including City Council of which he served as mayor, ESU Board, School Board and Co-op Equity. In his free time Don spent hours reading about and collecting toy tractors and trucks and coins. He loved to watch the birds and attend all of his grandchildren’s activities.

Preceding in death were his parents, John and Martha Miller and sister, Eileen Randel.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen Miller of Culbertson; daughters, Julie and husband, Brad Worman, of Nelson, NE, Marsha Belz of Lincoln and Melody and husband, Dave Hoffmann, of Aurora, NE; brother, Roland Miller and wife, Jeannette, of Culbertson; two sisters, Joan and husband, Bob Hesterwerth, of McCook and Lois and husband, Ray Bartusiak, of Littleton, CO; brother-in-law, Cliff Randel and wife, Diane, of Indianola; six grandchildren, Darcy Worman and fiancé, Bobby Goode, Brittney Hoffmann, Stacey (Worman) Robinson and husband, Clint, Shelby Hoffmann, Paul Belz, Carly Belz and one great-grandson, Brigham Bradley Robinson; numerous nieces, nephews, family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 31, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will follow at the Culbertson Cemetery.
