Donald Leslie "Les" Wilhelm, Jr. passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at his rural McCook home. He was 64 years old.

Les was born on January 2, 1946, at McCook to Donald Leslie and Beth Ann (Relph) Wilhelm, Sr. He graduated from McCook High School in 1964. He entered the US Navy on August 9, 1965 and served during the Viet Nam War. He was honorably discharged on August 8, 1971.

He returned to McCook and enrolled at McCook Community College receiving his Associate's Degree. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant until his health required him to retire.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid Husker Football and Volleyball fan.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Donald and Beth Wilhelm, Sr.

Survivors include his three children, Justine and husband, Sean Owings of Lincoln, Teri and husband, Bill Dennis, of Kansas City, MO, and Derrick Wilhelm of Lincoln; one brother, Darrell "Les" Wilhelm and wife, Teresa, of McCook; two sisters, Sandra and husband, Bill Gotchall, of Oberlin, KS and Ann and husband, Ed Doyle, of McCook; two grandchildren, Shelby and Riley Dennis; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial services are today, Monday, November 1, 2010, 2:30 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later time.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
