Doris M. Crocker

Doris M. Crocker of McCook died Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was 77 years old.

Doris was born on July 11, 1930 at Franklin to John William and Mary Deloris (Iler) Eaton. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1948 and attended McCook College for one year.

On February 16, 1950, she married Robert Louis Crocker in McCook. To this union four children were born. They made their home in the McCook community where Doris was a homemaker as well as a secretary.

She was a member of McCook Christian Church, Merry Mrs. Extension Club, McCook VFW Auxiliary and BN Auxiliary. She was a Red Cross Volunteer and crocheted countless baby bonnets and booties for the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Auxiliary in Lincoln. She also volunteered as a secretary for the Indianola Alumni Association for years. In her free time Doris loved to read.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Mary Deloris Eaton; her husband, Robert Crocker in 1983; one brother, Francis Melvin Eaton; and granddaughter-in-law, Jami Wilcox.

Survivors include her children, Richie Crocker and wife, Jody, Cynthia and husband, Bob Wilcox, Janet and husband, Mike Fidler all of McCook and Danny Crocker and wife, Teresa of Lincoln; one brother, William Eaton of Sparks, NV; one sister, Loneta and husband, Jim Nolan of Minden; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Tyler and Ashley Wilcox; Joshua, Joseph and Riley Crocker and Jacob and Nate Crocker; three great-grandchildren, Kailey and Kassidy Wilcox and Ryder Crocker.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Funeral services were Friday, December 7, 2007, 10:00 a.m. at McCook Christian Church with Pastor Clark Bates and Pastor Dale Heimer officiating. Burial took place in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
