Dorothy L. Blume, age 73, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Dorothy was born to Benjamin F. and Ruth E. (Pond) Sprinkle at Spencer, Nebraska on October 17, 1938.

Dorothy married Author D. “Pee Wee” Blume in Culbertson on October 15, 1961. To this union one child was born, Kandy Jo D’Rozario. In an earlier marriage two sons were born, Jeff (deceased) and Terry of Wauneta.

Dorothy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for the past 37 years. She enjoyed working word puzzles. Dorothy especially liked plastic crocheting and crocheting various items for family. As a resident of Hillcrest Dorothy was always active in the various activities and never missed an opportunity to play bingo with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jeff Lasater; brothers, Leo Sprinkle and one in infancy; three sisters, Agnes Dack, Leona Johnson and Mary Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, Author D. of McCook; daughter, Kandy Jo D’Rozario and husband, Gregg of Tampa, FL; son, Terry Lasater and wife, Raina of Wauneta,NE; sister, Anna Brown and husband, Phillip of Indianola, NE; brothers, Paul Sprinkle and wife, Clara of McCook, NE, Richard Sprinkle and wife, Carol of Phoenix, AZ; and 5 precious grandbabies and several great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in her name to Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 6, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, NE, with Pastor Tom Albertson officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary cemetery in McCook, NE.
