Dorothy Lucille Lockhorn of Indianola died Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the Cambridge Manor. She was 85 years old.

She was born, January 18, 1922 at Upland, Nebraska to Mathias J. and Maria M. (Rintermann) Lammers. She grew up on a farm in Upland and spent most of her school years in Lexington. Her father died in her early years, so she spent many years caring for her mother.

On June 30, 1950 she married Henry Lockhorn in Fairbury. They farmed north of Indianola and were blessed with five children.

Dorothy was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Alter Society of Indianola. She was very active and enjoyed her home, garden & house plants, canning, embroidery, quilting and crocheting. She especially enjoyed her, children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henry on March 7, 1988; and a son, Stanley who was killed in an accident on February 6, 1986; two brothers, John Lammers and Fritz Lammers; two sisters, Elfrieda Brown and Elnora Margritz.

Survivors include her children, Rodney and wife Susan Lockhorn of Sidney, Myron Lockhorn and special friend Shiela and her two children of McCook, Carleen and husband Wayne Crawford of Cambridge and Rosleen Lockhorn and special friend Lloyd Lavery of McCook; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Brown of Custer, South Dakota and Leslie Margritz of Kearney; Two sisters-in-law, Leona Lockhorn and Rosanda Schroll both of Ravenna; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Paul Witt officiating. Burial was in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Memorials are being accepted in her name.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
