Biography

Dorothy Irene Loop, 86, of McCook passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at the Community Hospital.

Dorothy was born Sept. 15, 1923 at Max, Nebraska to Delbert and Ruth A. (Harrison) Higley. She graduated from Stratton High School in1940.

She was married to Bill Rex Loop on March 16, 1942 in Oberlin, Kansas. To this union five children were born, Dana, Roger, Rita, Gary and Gale.

She enjoyed traveling with her husband while he was in the U.S. Navy. She was a member of the McCook D.O.E.S, Stratton VFW Auxiliary, McCook American Legion Auxiliary, Doll Club, Craft Club, three card clubs. She enjoyed working at the United Methodist Women's Helping Hands Thrift Store and having coffee every morning with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Delbert; mother, Ruth and step-father Glenn Richards.

She is survived by her husband, Bill of McCook; sons Roger (Donna) Loop of McCook, Gary (Beth) Loop of Eagle, Nebraska and Gale (Becky)Loop of McCook; daughters, Dana (Richard) Frakes of Trenton and Rita (Richard) Reiman of Eagle, Nebraska; brother Wayne (Lucille) Higley of Stratton; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials were to be given in her name.

Memorial services were Tuesday, January 5, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with Reverend Lance Clay officiating.

A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
