Dorothy Lucille Unger of Cambridge died Monday, April 17, 2006 at the Cambridge Hospital. She was 91 years old.
Dorothy was born on December 22, 1914 at Beaver City, Nebraska to Lyod and Lizzie Bell (Cline) Ventling. She graduated from Bartley High School in 1933. She continued her education at Kearney State Teachers College receiving her teaching certificate. She taught at the Hamburg School and District #8.
On May 27, 1942, she married Albert Unger in North Platte. To this union two sons and a daughter were born. They made their home on a farm south on McCook. They later moved to their present farm west of Bartley where she lived until she moved into the Cambridge Assisted Living in 2003.
Dorothy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the ladies quilting group. She was also a member of Bartley Women's Extension Club and served on the Bartley School Board for several years. She was a 4-H leader for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Loyd and Lizzie Ventling; her husband, Albert Unger; one sister, Della Bolles; and two brothers, Orville and Dothen Ventling.
Survivors include her two sons, Robert "Bob" Unger and wife, Cheri, of Bartley and James "Jim" Unger and wife, Mary, of Grand Island; Connie Denton and husband Ray Denton of Pittsburg Kansas: nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Bartley Cemetery Directory Fund.
Visitation will be Tuesday until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 19, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Randy Wahl officiating. Burial will be at the Bartley Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
