Dorothy Ann Vontz, age 77, died Friday, May 15,2009 at Community Hospital.
She was born on April 27, 1932, to Joseph B. and Hazel E. (Claflin) Kircher on their family farm north and west of Indianola. She graduated from Red Willow High School in 1949. She married Robert L. Yontz on February 3, 1951. To this union three children were born.
She worked for many years as the head of the McCook Public Schools Cafeteria and enjoyed travel, sewing and quilting having made a quilt for each grandchild, crafts, TV cooking shows and her wonderful best friend, Puddy Pie cat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob on April 20, 2002; and a brother, Jim.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen S. Hartwell of Lexington, Robert J. Vontz and wife, Nancy, of Sarasota, FL and Kenneth M. Vontz of McCook; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Kircher and wife, Myrna, of Minot, ND; sister, Carol Bridgman of McCook; and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials were to be given in her name to the McCook Humane Society.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 19, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Burial took place in Calvary Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
