Douglas Dean Colby died Saturday, May 29, 2010 at McCook Community Hospital. He was 50 years old.
Doug was born on December 10, 1959 at Imperial to DeWayne Dow Colby and Marian Joan (Blobaum) Carson. He attended McCook Elementary Schools and graduated from Littleton High School, Littleton, Colorado in 1979. While in high school, he was active on the swim team.
On December 30, 1987, Doug was united in marriage to Noreen Renee Remington at Glendale, Colorado. To this union two sons, Dillon and Dawson, were born. They eventually made their home in the McCook community where he worked in maintenance.
He was a member of the National Rifleman's Association. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Clarkson, Nebraska. Other interests included an avid interest in antique cars and politics.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Roberta and Clarence "Slim" Blobaum and Lela and Dow Colby; step-father, Gary Carson, Aunt Ima Drain and niece, Alisha Browder.
Survivors include his wife, Noreen Colby of McCook; sons, Dillon and Dawson of the home; parents, DeWayne Colby of Platteville, Colo. and Marian Joan Carson of Wheatridge, Colo.; sister, Debbie and husband, Billie Crum, of Denver; Aunt Verdonna of Broomfield, Colo., numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were to be given in his name.
Memorial services were Tuesday, June 1st at 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. A memorial plaque will be placed at the foot of his grandmother, Lela Colby's grave, at the Palisade Cemetery.
Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook was in charge of the arrangements.
